Could you manage to impress the judges?
JUDGES at this year's Daily Echo-backed Dorset Business Awards are looking for a Dorset business with an excellent management team to win the Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) Management Team Award.
The award aims to recognise the important role that a strong management team plays in helping a company to prosper and is open to teams of any size whose main work-base is in Dorset.
Judges will be looking for a management team that has driven the business forward using market knowledge, creative ideas while developing a strong leadership ethos throughout the team.
RBS Management Team of the Year checklist
Entrants will need to provide evidence of success in the following areas:
l Financial Performance
l Innovation
l Strategic planning and thinking
l Team building/building partnerships
l Leadership/overcoming problems
l Change management
Last year, the management team at Dorset children's charity Julia's House won the award.
A rapidly growing service was created by the chief executive and his team which lobbied Parliament for fairer funding for children's hospices.
The team also researched, created and delivered its own training programme for managers in how to manage people.
Martin Edwards, chief executive at Julia's House, said: "Winning the award was vital in spreading the word about Julia's House across Dorset's business community.
"But we were also delighted to receive confirmation that we are at least equal to any business in Dorset in our standards of management and that we are right to focus so much on how we support our people."
The judging panel will be led by Martin Cox, senior relationship manager, commercial banking at RBS in Bournemouth.
He added: "We hope for as wide a range of entries as possible to reflect the great diversity in the business community.
"Our association with the Dorset Business Awards, supporting the RBS Management Team Award is an important strategic decision for us.
"The management team category encourages complete teams to enter, acknowledging that there are usually several people, not just one, who make a company successful."
Entries can be submitted online at dorsetbusiness
awards.co.uk and the entry deadline for this award is Friday September 12.
Entry is open to both non-members and members of Dorset Business (the Chamber of Commerce & Industry).
