GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE: Chris Shiel
GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE: Chris Shiel

BOURNEMOUTH University has appointed Chris Shiel to lead its new centre for global perspectives which will develop the university's internationalisation initiatives.

She was formerly head of learning and teaching at the university's business school.

As leader of the centre, Chris will oversee the university's commitment to integrate global perspectives in the curriculum and to foster global awareness among staff and students.

She will develop cross-cultural learning opportunities for students, enhancing their employment prospects regionally, nationally and internationally. In addition, she will work with academics to develop further internationally significant research.

Vice-chancellor professor Paul Curran said: "For many years now we have taken a student-centred approach to our international activities and have been successful at integrating globalisation, global citizenship, sustainable development, internationalisation and international student recruitment into the purpose and function of the university.

"We are delighted that Chris will be leading the new centre.

"She is highly respected in the global perspectives field and has wide knowledge in developing international partnerships," he added.
